A video captured by a worker at a Golden Corral restaurant in Port Orange, Florida lies at the center of an extortion scandal.

The clip, which we have posted earlier, shows meat improperly stored by a dumpster and employee Brandon Huber explaining that the restaurant does that before inspections.

“I'm an employee here, been working here for a long time and I don't feel that this is right. [...] I mean look at it, what do you think?” the staffer asks in the video.

The food is allegedly brought back in the diner and used to prepare meals after the diner is inspected.

“A video was recently posted showing an incident of improper food handling at our Port Orange, Florida location.

“None of these items were served to a single customer. All were destroyed within the hour at the direction of management. Brandon Huber, the employee who made the video, participated in the disposal of the food,” stated Metro Corral Partners, who own the franchise.

However, USA Today reports that they have mentioned Huber's father asking them for money not to release the video.

“The following day, the father of the employee, posted an offer to sell the video for $5,000 (€3,890), which was not accepted,” the company says.

After the original video emerged online, user GCWhistleblower posted another damning photo of a dirty, unsanitary Golden Corral kitchen on Reddit. The photo posted by the man also claiming to be an employee is attached to this news article.

Metro Corral Partners have announced that they have fired the manager at the Port Orange location.

“The manager involved in the improper storage was terminated for failing to follow approved food handling procedures,” the statement by the company reads.

There is no information on whether or not Huber was also fired.
