Today, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics has officially announced the availability of the Gold-flavored version of its Galaxy S5 smartphone in the United States starting with May 30.

This version of the mobile phone was made official back in February during the Mobile World Congress, along with the other color variants of the handset.

The Gold Galaxy S5 was released in various other markets out there, and will hit shelves in the United States as well, starting next week.

According to Samsung, the new phone iteration will be available on the networks of wireless carriers such as AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and Verizon Wireless (though only through select indirect retailers, it seems).

“Technology and fashion collide with Samsung’s new Gold Galaxy S 5 – proving that fashion and function can coexist,” the mobile phone maker announced.

“With graduations coming up, the Gold Galaxy S 5 makes a perfect gift for the new graduate. And with Father’s Day coming up on June 15th, the Gold Galaxy S 5 makes a great gift for the fashionable dad who wants to add a little swagger to his wardrobe.”

The new Galaxy S5 variant will be released with all the features, hardware specs and capabilities that the original variant was unveiled with.

As Samsung points out, the phone can easily prove a great option for those who are looking for a device capable of delivering some extra battery life when needed, and which can also withstand splashes, dust, and more.

“The Gold Galaxy S 5 is ideal with Ultra Power Saving Mode for those moments when there’s no time to stop and charge, and it’s also dust and water resistant to protect against life’s minor mishaps,” Samsung notes.

“This device has been tested and received an IP (Ingress Protection) rating of IP67, which tests for dust intrusion and for water submersion up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes. Not shockproof. Covers must be tightly closed.”

The Gold Galaxy S5 also sports a 5.1-inch full HD touchscreen display, a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of RAM (along with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 128GB of additional storage space).

Moreover, the smartphone features a 16-megapixel rear camera with 4K video recording capabilities, and a 2MP front camera for video calling. In addition to packing all of the usual connectivity capabilities, the phone runs under the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box.
