Nokia E71, the new Eseries smartphone that Nokia released at the beginning of July, is now available in a luxury edition. Created by Goldstriker, the UK company famous for dressing lots of mobile devices in precious metals, the new E71 comes plated with 24 carat gold, which makes it look worse than both the original white and gray versions. Anyway, rich people will think less about the overall aspect of the new golden smartphone and more about the fact that it allows them to stand-out, so the uglier look will probably not matter that much.

Although on Goldstriker's website it's stated that the Gold Edition of E71 was added to the catalog "on Monday, 01 January, 2007", the luxurious smartphone is in the company's offer only for a few days (in January 2007 Nokia probably didn't even think about making an E71).

Those who might want to buy themselves a shiny E71 can find it on Goldstriker's website, for no less than 550 GBP. This means about 1100 USD or 690 Euros, hence almost double than the retail price of the normal smartphone.

Announced at the same date with another new Eseries (the E66 slider), Nokia E71 is a highly-featured business phone that comes in a very slim case (only 10 millimeters in thickness).

Nokia E71 Gold Edition includes the same features that the original smartphone comes with: Symbian 9.2 S60 3rd Edition, quad-band GSM and dual-band HSDPA connectivity, built-in GPS, A-GPS, Wi-Fi, a 2.36 inch TFT non-touchscreen display with 16 million colors and 320 x 240 pixels, a full QWERTY keyboard for quick and easy text input, push email, full HTML browser, Music and Video players with lots of formats supported, FM radio, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, a 3.15 Megapixel camera with auto focus and flash, push-to-talk, 110MB of internal memory, microSD card support and so on.
