Sony is close to revealing God of War IV, the next installment in its hugely successful hack and slash series, at least according to a new teaser trailer that was leaked over the weekend.

God of War III was a great game and, although it seemed to bring a definitive end to the series, a new installment will soon appear, in the form of God of War IV.

While the game was rumored for quite some time, a new trailer spotted by PlayStationGang has just appeared.

The video, which is filmed with a shaky cam, begins with the logo of God of War developer Sony Santa Monica, and then features a special voice over.

"Brother, the phoenix has-been drinking your blood, full of your anger, your strength, and during her rebirth she also has let you in life. Now I ask you: what are you going to do? Would you leave me here in hell? [Inaudible], wake up, wake up!" the voice says.

The video doesn’t feature any concrete footage, just a few glimpses, probably through the eyes of God of War’s protagonist Kratos.

Judging by the voice over and the facts said, it’s very likely that the speaker is Kratos’ brother, Deimos.

God of War fans will remember that Deimos was abducted by Ares when he was a child and trapped in the Domain of Death.

His statement, which mentions hell, heavily hints that Kratos’ new adventures will involve getting his brother out of Death’s domain.

While the trailer looks pretty good, take it with a grain of salt, as plenty of bogus trailers have appeared in recent weeks, including one about Halo 4, which brought a release date that’s been debunked by Microsoft itself.

Expect some official details about God of War IV soon, straight from Sony. Until then, check out the leaked trailer below.
