It seems that Sony’s planned announcement for today has been leaked ahead of schedule, with retailer Amazon posting the cover and a video of God of War: Ascension, the oft-rumored next installment in the hack and slash series.
God of War III impressed millions of PS3 owners from all around the world and seemingly ended the series of games that focused on Kratos.
Now, with God of War: Ascension, previously rumored as just God of War IV, it seems that we’ll once again be exploring Kratos’ origins story.
According to the game’s description on Amazon, via NeoGAF, “Join Kratos as he seeks freedom, redemption, and the clarity to avenge his family in the most ambitious God of War adventure in the series so far.”
As you can see in the video above, Ascension will follow Kratos’ adventures just as he becomes the fabled Ghost of Sparta and gets his powerful abilities.
