In case there are some mobile phone users out there who own a device powered by Google's Android operating system and who do not know what to do with their free time, Goby.com has the solution, via its newly released application. The new Android app from the “activity search engine that helps people find things to do with their free time” comes for free, and is available for download from the Android Market, the company announced.

“Given goby’s depth of content, mobile is a perfect platform. We’ve got more than four million things to do, all geo-tagged and easily searchable by location,” said Mark Watkins, CEO and co-founder of goby. “That means wherever you go, wherever you want to go, goby can cure your boredom on the spot.”

goby’s Android software solution builds on the success of the applications it released for Apple's iPhone, iPad and iTouch. The features list of the application includes coverage of 350 categories of things to do, including hiking and caving or galleries and restaurants offerings, not to mention that it comes with coverage of every city, town and region in the United States. We should also mention that the software solution comes with geo-location features, that it offers maps and phone numbers, or that it sports sharing features.

Through the new Android application, users can easily find nearby activities and events, while being able to make plans for the weekend or to find new locations to explore. As soon as one has selected a desired activity from goby’s search results, specific details can be highlighted via a single tap, including complete descriptions, reviews and photos. Moreover, an additional tap can enable users share their plans with friends via social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.

“Goby’s mobile apps empower users to find fun anytime, anywhere using their mobile devices,” said Watkins. “We launched goby with the goal of helping people find new experiences and inspiring them to try new things. We’re also in the process of adding more features to all of our mobile apps to allow people to create, edit and share goby content. You can preview these new features on goby.com where users already have the ability to save, organize and share all the things to do they find across the site.”
