Philips recently launched a new pair of flash-based GoGear DAPs. Some of us have already seen the company doing the flash thing or hard drive thing before.

It seems that the company decided to drop the low capacities in favor of the popular 1GB and 2GB of storage, which can also be purchased at lower prices. The new line sports color screens for viewing photos and family albums, a backlit touch pad for navigation. Moreover, the manufacturers added an FM tuner in case the consumer somehow gets bored with the music.

The players feature voice recorder, ideal to store birthday memos directly on the player. The integrated rechargeable battery enables the user to listen to 14 hours of playback.

Fortunately for the game addicts, the devices are also PlayforSure compliant. But there are slight chances to play with one or two friends at the same time.

According to Engadget, the Philips items are going to cost around $200 and hit the stores next month, while the 1Gb unit is estimated to cost around $150. In addition to the Black and Pearl marketed versions of the mp3 players, Philips is going to add a Light Blue 1GB SA2313 and a pink 1GB SA2312.

The electrifying colors remind me a lot of the Apple colors. But wait! Those have built-in displays!

The 1GB GoGear SA9100 lets you enjoy popular file formats such as Mp3 and WMA. Thanks to Sensory Touchpad Superscroll, the player enables the user to view photos on the 1.7" color screen.

The storage capacity may seem small, but it means up to 500 songs and more than 280 photos. Regarding the photo capabilities, the resolution is of 128 x 160 pixels. Given the fact that Philips is reportedly known as one of the top sellers on the Internet, the newly launched line is going to be highly appreciated among regular consumers.
