Excellent technology powered by Google

Since Gmail is one of the most popular email technologies on the web, numerous consumers are looking for alternative ways to check their accounts for new messages as the old fashioned browser login takes too much time. Besides POP3, the consumers are now able to read and send messages using the IMAP support implemented a few days ago, and which gives the users full control over their account straight from the email client. But what if I want to be notified every time a message comes into my inbox and then read the message using the browser? Well, you can use the numerous utilities available out there; but personally, I think the best one is the Gmail Notifier powered by Google.

Just like its name says, the Gmail Notifier informs the user every time a new messages comes into his/her account. "The Gmail Notifier is a downloadable application that alerts you whenever you have new Gmail messages. After you download the Notifier, an icon will appear in your system tray (so you don't have to open a browser) to let you know if you have unread Gmail messages", the Mountain View company describes the utility.

Gmail Notifier has all it needs to become a powerful application: it automatically checks the account for new messages every two minutes, it shows a small part of the new message in a nice-looking balloon message and it can even create sound alerts to let you know when there's a new message in the inbox. The best thing? It works even on Mac OS X. The bad thing is that it is compatible only with Windows 2000 and Windows XP because older versions are not supported.

"The Notifier is not compatible with Windows ME at this time, but we look forward to offering support for more operating systems in the future," Google stated.

Although I'm sure you already know it, you can download Gmail Notifier straight from Softpedia.
