Developers have introduced the remote sign out

It seems that the Gmail's developers truly care for the security of its users. Since you can sign in to the Google account from different locations at the same time, there is the possibility you could forget to sign out of one and then be faced with an invasion of privacy. Thanks to the new feature from Gmail, you can now see if you have not signed out from all the places where you opened the account and what you should do if that be the case.

However, the most interesting part is yet to come. Once a footer reveals all this to you, you can see the IP of the location where the account is still in use and when the last activity was performed. By knowing the IP of the computer where you're still logged on, you can decide whether the situation is or is not potentially threatening. If it turns out that it is, you can remotely sign out from the unwanted locations.

The new feature offers even more details, when asked, about the recent activities performed within the account, such as the date of the recent connections and their type - by browser, POP3 or mobile. Another innovation can be considered the fact that Gmail's footer now shows you the IP of the computer on which you are currently logged in.

The feature was already implemented by the team of developers from Google. Erwin D'Souza, Gmail Engineer, who published on the official Gmail blog the post concerning the enhancement, made it clear that the team had in mind the severe consequences that the violation of the email account may have.

''Your email account can contain a lot of personal information, from bank alerts to love letters. Email that, I'm sure, you don't always want other people to see. We understand how important your Gmail accounts are to you, so we're adding a new layer of information and control,'' explained D'Souza, stressing the reasons behind the team's determination to develop the feature.
