Glu Mobile has signed a partnership with Microsoft to develop and publish Age of Empired III for mobile phones. This follows a previous two year relationship between the two companies, with Glu having developed and published Project Gotham Racing for Mobile, released earlier this year.

Age Of Empires doesn't need any introduction, as anyone who was even interested in games, for mobile or PC will have heard of the popular real-time strategy game that sold 16 million copies worldwide for PC and is scheduled to make its debut on mobile during the next year. Its availability for mobile phones can't be anything but appreciated and embraced by all RTS loving mobile gamers out there.

This is one of several agreements Glu Mobile has signed these few weeks. The mobile game developer has established deals with Codemasters and SEGA, and has also confirmed its support for Nokia's next-gen N-Gage platform.

Jill Braff, general manager of North America at Glu Mobile, said: "We're excited to partner with Microsoft on another of their most valued brands. Age of Empires is one of the highest-rated and best-selling RTS franchises on the PC, and we look forward to working with Microsoft to replicate that success on mobile."

Sandy Ting, director of business development at Microsoft's interactive entertainment business, said: "Glu's passion and experience with mobile games is well-known, and we're happy to extend our relationship with Glu and see the 'Age of Empires III' experience made available to a new audience."

With several famous PC games moving on to mobile, it looks like in the next few years the mobile gaming experience will be significantly improved.
