Glow Pillow simulates a "sunrise" to wake you up

Forget fetish alarm clocks like the gun-operated alarm clock or the rolling alarm clock. If you want to wake up with style in the morning, you don't even need alarm clocks anymore (maybe, but probably not). This pillow can wake you up using pure light and, well, a built-in alarm clock (damn it).

Designed by Eoin McNally and Ian Walton, the Glow Pillow uses an integrated sleeper-friendly fabric interface that lets you set the alarm. The time is displayed on the surface of the pillow using a LED grid inside the pillow. Forty minutes before the alarm is due to activate, Shazam-a-lam-a-ding-dong, the pillow begins to glow. The light intensity increases gradually from 0 lux to 250 lux and, well, presumably simulates a natural sunrise (you missed the sunrise again!).

The pillow layers include an outer cover made from 100% cotton, a second layer of thin netting, a third layer of foam batting to cushion and disperse LED light, a fourth layer of a Philips LED woven substrate and finally (praise the Lord!), a fifth layer of 5lb density visco-elastic memory foam. Other "features" include six SOFTswitch TM buttons that control all the pillow functions. Finally, a battery indicator shows when the pillow is charging.

There are a number of problems though. If the pillows' sensors feel you didn't wake up, craaank, it will explode. Now, that's a lie. Sleeping on electrical stuff...that's the last thing you probably want. What's worse still is that you can't wash it.

Unfortunately, the Glo Pillowfalls under the "concept category" so you can put those hundreds away since you won't be buying anytime soon. Anyway, I'm sure you'll never sleep remembering that you paid, say, 500$, for a pillow. The buyer's remorse will get you again, eh?
