The market of GPS navigation devices is quite crowded as it is, but it seems that manufacturers don't really care about this aspect and keep on launching new models almost on a daily basis. Some of these things are pretty interesting, but others can be described just as standard or sub-standard, and that's the type of device you're about to see as follows, namely the GV-366 entry-level model presented by GlobalSat.

The GPS navigator doesn't offer anything you haven't seen before. Thus, the GV-366 sports a SiRF StarIII GPS receiver, the standard chipset solution nowadays. It runs on a Samsung S3C2410-266MHz processor, sports 64MB of SDRAM memory and 64 MB of ROM memory, and it also supports an optional RDS-TMC receiver, for delivering real-time traffic information. Moreover, it includes a 3.5-inch TFT LCD display that provides a 320 x 240 pixels resolution, as well as touchscreen capabilities.

The navigation software is provided by Navigon, and offers some relatively interesting features. First of all, it allows users to view the navigation maps (Western Europe, Eastern Europe, North America etc.) in either 2D or 3D formats, and also includes a multilingual navigation interface and a multilingual voice guidance system, capable of informing the users of their whereabouts and general direction in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Danish, Dutch, Flemish, Finnish, Polish, Norwegian, Swedish, Hungarian and Turkish.

As most of the other navigators available on the market, the GV-366 also offers a couple of multimedia functions, but nothing really fancy. Thus, users can view photos or play music while being on the go, the multimedia files being stored on an SD/MMC card inserted in the device's compatible slot.

GlobalSat has not yet offered any pricing or availability information regarding the GV-366, but considering that this is an entry-level model that provides just standard features, it should be available for under 200 US dollars when it finally hits the shelves.
