Actress and singer Lea Michele of the “Glee” fame recently found herself at the middle of a minor storm over a series of comments she made at the Time 100 Gala last week. Speaking with photographer Patrick McMullan, Lea refused to give her real name and put on what has already been labeled a clear case of diva behavior but, according to her Twitter page, it was all just a gross misunderstanding.

The moment the story got out, talk of when did Lea become too big for the rest of the world also started to pick up momentum. Clearly, she was aware that she still had a long way to go before being entitled to let her diva airs get the best of her, it was also being said. Her “crime” of being rude to the photographer seemed even worse as the photos in question did not bother or harass her in any way, just asked her what her name was.

According to Lea herself, she was just trying to make a joke and she got it wrong. “Big apology to @PatrickMcMullan. Totally didn’t expect you (or anyone) @ Time 100 to know who I was w/all the amazing people there… [I] made a silly joke that didn’t go over, so sorry. It was such an incredible night and I was beyond honored and thrilled to be there,” Lea tweeted. Many remain unconvinced, saying she took too long to come out with an explanation for the highly mediated incident.

Legendary celebrity photographer (and Intel friend) Patrick McMullan approaches to take a picture. He snaps away, she poses.]

Patrick McMullan: What’s your name? Lea Michele: [Rolls eyes.] Sarah Palin. Patrick McMullan: [Laughs.] No, really, tell me your name. Lea Michele: Taylor Swift. Patrick McMullan: [Expletive] you.

[Exits.]” writes the New York Mag of the encounter Lea had with photographer McMullan. It also says the actress spent most of the night kissing and putting on PDAs with her boyfriend, and paid very little attention to what was going on around her.
