Italian photographic accessories manufacturer Gitzo has announced recently the release of a newly designed Mountaineer tripod range that aims to improve performance and ease of use for professional photographers.

The new Gitzo Mountaineer tripods come with newly developed Carbon eXact tubes that optimize fiber composition for each tube size and make these tripods more rigid than the previous Carbon 6X models.

Moreover, the new technology also perfects the HM (High Modulus) carbon fiber composition for the smaller tubes, offering increased strength particularly for these tripod sections, which are now 22.5 percent thicker than its predecessor's. The top spider and column lock have also been overhauled to increase overall rigidity.

Gitzo Mountaineer Tripod series consists of four models that range from the compact Series 0, up to the sturdiest Series 3. These models are also optimized to work with specific focal length lenses for optimum results.

The G-lock has been revamped both on the inside and on the outside to comply with the new tripod design, creating a new level of ergonomics with enhanced resistance, smoother operation, and dust protection called G-lock Ultra.

The Gitzo Mountaineer tripod series can also be used at ground level thanks to the company's Ground Level Set mechanism that allows you to remove the center column in order to shoot closer to the ground. This can be achieved by using the simple unlocking ring placed under the column's upper disc.

Speaking of the upper disc, the new Mountaineer tripods feature a solid connection with the head, keeping it rigid even when the center column is removed for ground level shots. The angle selectors have also been modernized and now come with integrated springs; Gitzo made them larger and faster than before.
