Hell hath no fury as a fashion designer scorned. There is a feud brewing in the world of high fashion, after Anna Wintour more or less delicately skipped the Armani show at the Milan Fashion Week and flew to Paris for the Prive collection. And Giorgio Armani is none too happy about it.

As Us Weekly points out, the house of Armani is one of the biggest advertisers in fashion bible Vogue magazine, where Wintour works as Editor-in-Chief. He probably thought she would do him the professional courtesy of checking out the Fall 2014 Womenswear collection, if only because of this reason.

He probably also assumed she’d be there because she would find the time to squeeze both the Armani and the Armani Prive collection in her tight schedule, even if they took place in different cities.

Armani, who is the creative director of the fashion house, did not reference Wintour by name but he made sure he offered all the pieces of the puzzle needed for anyone with a minimum of fashion knowledge to put it together.

“There are some who prefer to snub the Giorgio Armani show and go to Paris. She took an airplane, dumped Mr. Armani and went to Paris. Why should I always be the moron [translating from an Italian expletive] to be penalized because of a person, who, for better or for worse, like or dislike it, is powerful? I feel penalized,” Armani complained to representatives of the media in a conference after the show, the celebrity publication reports.

“She said she was sending her people. But if you go to see your dentist and he puts you in the hands of his assistant, what’s your reaction? They told me, ‘She went to see the [Armani] Prive in Paris; she has no time to see the ready-to-wear in Milan.’ She is influential and powerful. But, perhaps, I’m influential as well,” Mr. Armani concluded.

Insiders believe that last part of his passionate statement was actually a not-so-veiled threat at Wintour and Vogue, meaning to say he would pull his ads from the magazine for this slight done onto him.

Wintour herself might have perceived it as such (i.e., as a threat) because, the minute word of Giorgio Armani’s attack got out to her people, she sent out a statement to say that things were simply out of control, missing the show in Italy could not be helped.

“Anna has the greatest respect for Giorgio Armani and everything he has done for Italy and fashion worldwide. Unfortunately, with the fashion calendar now running for more than a month, there are some shows that Anna is not able to attend,” the statement said, as per the publication.
