Chinese handset maker Gionee is very popular in India and China, but its smartphones aren't available in many other countries. Those who want to try out the company's products and don't live in Asia will have a hard time getting one.

Gionee is present with its smartphones at all price tiers, starting with some of the most affordable Android device and up to the most advanced phablets.

Obviously, Gionee is willing to make some compromises in order to offer its products cheaper than the competition, but that shouldn't stop customers from giving them a try.

The Elife E7 was Gionee's first phablet and made its debut on the market about 2 years ago. Today, the sequel to this phablet is about to go official in China.

Gionee Elife E8 has been recently spotted at TENAA, the Chinese regulatory commission, a new report claims. The smartphone comes with a huge display, just like its predecessor, and a lot of other powerful features.

AMOLED display and 3,520mAh battery

According to the filing at TENAA, the Elife E8 will boast a stunning 6-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution. In addition, the smartphone will be equipped with an octa-core processor clocked at 2GHz.

Unfortunately, there are no details on the chipset inside the phone, but since the Elife E7 was powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor, we suspect that the upcoming phablet will pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC (system-on-chip).

Also, Elife E8 has been confirmed to feature no less than 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card slot.

On the back, the handset should pack a 16-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash, and video recording, while on the front there's a secondary 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

Gionee Elife E8 features a fingerprint scanner on the back, right below the camera. The smartphone is powered by a 3,520mAh battery and measures 164.0 x 82.3 x 9.6mm.

There's no word on price tag or availability, but since Elife E8 has already appeared at TENAA, we expect the smartphone to be made official in the next couple of weeks.
