We reported last month on the latest smartphone launched in India by Chinese company Gionee, the GPad G3. The handset has just been officially introduced in the country, though it has already been available on the market for a few weeks now.

According to fonearena, customers in India can purchase the Gionee GPad G3 for only Rs 9,999 outright, which is about $155 or €115.

The smartphone is the spiritual successor of the GPad G2, which was launched in India back in spring. However, the new device packs a large 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that, sadly, supports only 480 x 854 pixels resolution.

The Chinese company launched the GPad G3 in two color versions, black and white, so customers can choose the one that fits their personality better.

On the positive side, the smartphone offers dual-SIM capability (GSM + GSM) with Dual Standby feature, so users will be able to take calls on both SIMs.

On the inside, Gionee GPad G3 comes equipped with a more than decent 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor, which is complemented by a PowerVR SGX544 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.

The device is packed with only 4GB of internal memory, but users can further expand storage up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

On the back, the GPad G3 sports a 5-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, while in the front, there's a secondary VGA camera for video calls.

Last but not least, the handset offers 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, as well as built-in aGPS, 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio and 2250 mAh Li-Ion battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.

Keep in mind that Gionee GPad G3 ships with Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box and is likely to remain stuck on this version until it is discontinued.
