The smartphone is set to arrive on shelves in China on December 12

Today, Chinese mobile phone maker Gionee has officially introduced a new smartphone in the popular Elife lineup, none other than the previously confirmed Gionee Elife E7.

The new device will land on shelves with hardware capabilities that are on par with those of high-end smartphones out there, but with a more affordable price tag.

Elife E7 was launched in China in Meteor Black, Ceramic White, Blue, Green, Orange and Red color flavors, with a price tag of 2,699 Yuan ($443/€327) attached to it, with 16GB of internal memory.

However, users will also be able to grab a 32GB variant of the mobile phone, one that has been priced a bit higher, at 3,199 Yuan ($525/€388), fonearena notes.

According to Gionee, the new device will become available for pre-order later this week, and will hit shelves in China starting with December 12.

Users in India will also be able to purchase it in their country, starting with January 2014. Furthermore, the handset vendor has confirmed that a LTE flavor of the smartphone will be launched in the first quarter of the next year.

Specs-wise, the new Elife E7 packs a 5.5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Furthermore, the new device is powered by a 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, paired with 2GB of RAM for the 16GB model, and 3GB of RAM for the 32GB variant. A microSD memory card slot was also included.

According to Gionee, the LTE-enabled variant will sport a 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon MSM8974AC processor.

On the back, the new device sports a 16-megapixel camera with LED flash, 1/2.3″ 1.34 µm sensor, and Sapphire lens, capable of recording videos in full HD resolution. At the same time, the smartphone packs an 8-megapixel camera on the front.

Support for 3G networks was also included in the package, along with WiFi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, WiFi Direct capabilities, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS receiver, USB port, OTG, and NFC.

The new smartphone is powered by a 2500 mAh built-in battery. It measures 150.6 x 75.0 x 9.5mm-6.2mm and weighs 150 grams. Elife E7 runs under Android 4.4 KitKat, with the handset vendor's Amigo 2.0 UI loaded on top.
