Although LG promised Optimus 2X owners that they would receive their Gingerbread upgrade in early November, it appears that UK users have been left out.

The Korean handset manufacturer issued an official statement last month, confirming the time frames for Android 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade for each Optimus smartphone.

More importantly, according to this statement the Gingerbread update should have been deployed on November 1 for the Optimus 2X, in the week commencing November 21 for the Optimus 3D, as well as in the week commencing November 28 for the Optimus Black.

Furthermore, LG stated that the upgrade will be pushed only for open models in Europe, while the exact timing of the upgrades in other markets will be announced later.

However, it appears that LG Optimus 2X owners living in the UK have yet to receive the promised Gingerbread upgrade, though the handset maker already deployed the update in other European countries.

Fortunately, LG announced on its official Facebook account that Android 2.3 Gingerbread for the Optimus 2X has gone live in the UK today.

Obviously, the dedicated LG Updating tool is required to download and install the Gingerbread update, as the company seems to avoid OTA (over the air) updates, which aren’t that safe anyway.

There’s more to it, as LG also confirmed that the other two Optimus devices that are slated for a Gingerbread upgrade, the Optimus Black and Optimus 3D are due to receive it early to mid-December.

Rumor has it that the Optimus 3D will be the first to get the Gingerbread update beginning December 5, whereas the Optimus Black will probably receive it two weeks later.

On related news, LG also revealed plans to deploy the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade to its high-end smartphones that were launched this year, including the Optimus Black, Optimus 3D and Optimus 2X.
