Today, Samsung Galaxy Tab (P1000) users in Taiwan can download and install the new Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system on their devices, and more of them should soon have the possibility to make a similar move, it seems.

Apparently, Samsung is gearing up for the release of this software update for its Galaxy Tab users on Sprint's network in the United States as well, and that some official info on this will emerge in the near future.

In Taiwan, the new Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread OS flavor comes with various additional enhancements into the mix, reports emerged.

In addition to all of the features that the new OS flavor was made available with, users will also enjoy ketch Memo app and Chinese input, as well as a series of other improvements. Rumor has it that Sprint's customers owning a Galaxy Tab device will be able to upgrade to the new mobile platform version as soon as July 5th, and that the software will be delivered to them over the air.

If so, users will not have to connect their tablet PCs to a computer to perform the update via the Kies desktop application.

Rumor has it that the wireless services provider will be able to have the new update rolled-out on all Galaxy Tab units on its airwaves across a 4-day period.

The same as with the Taiwanese flavor of the tablet PC, the Galaxy Tab on Sprint's network will taste Android 2.3 Gingerbread with a series of additional features included into the mix.

We should also note that Samsung Transform, another Android handset on Sprint, is also rumored to have been slated for an OS upgrade in the same time frame.

However, since nothing was officially unveiled on the matter, we'll take this with a grain of salt. Hopefully, the rumor will pan out, and both Galaxy Tab and Transform users at Sprint will enjoy the new Android 2.3 Gingerbread before the next week is over.
