Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the latest version of Google's mobile operating system, is reportedly including a series of features that were not announced officially. To be more precise, it actually includes clues that hint at unannounced features, such as Video Chat in GTalk, or Playstation Controls.

Some of those who already played with the new Android 2.3 Gingerbread SDK report that Google packed in it a series of new icons, which were not present with the older SDK.

It appears that these are nothing more than the video chat notification icons that one can see in the desktop version of Google's GTalk, which leaves little room for supposition here.

It appears that these are not resources aimed at third-party applications, and that they also sport the same naming and dimensions as other GTalk icons.

Another interesting discovery is related to the gaming capabilities of Android, as well as to recent rumors regarding the launch of a PlayStation Phone from Sony Ericsson.

It appears that the Playstation controller shoulder triggers (L1, L2, R1, R2) were found inside the Gingerbread SDK, which would point at the upcoming availability of the said Sony Ericsson Zeus Z1 PSP.

Of course, this is not a confirmation of the upcoming release of the said device, but it strongly suggests that Sony and Google are working on something that would involve Android and the PlayStation.

Other little secrets found inside Gingerbread include the fact that it comes with double the number of supported languages than the previous Android release did. A number of about 31 languages was added into the mix, increasing the list from 26 to a new total number of 57.

This adds to the image of a painting found deep inside the Gingerbread SDK, which shows a toothy-grinned Gingerbread man surrounded by some sort of phone-talking zombies (it can be found at: platforms/android-9/data/res/drawable-nodpi/platlogo.jpg).

Since Android 2.3 Gingerbread was announced only two days ago, other novelties might also be discovered hidden inside the new software solution, so keep an eye on this space for more info on the matter.
