Gigabyte used IDF 2013 as the staging ground for its latest and greatest (debatable) motherboard ever, the G1.Assassin 3, which bears that name because it will, presumably, assassinate all competition.

Obviously, the G1.Assassin 3, isn't about to gain life and go wreck products like, say, the ASUS Rampage IV Black Edition. Although it would probably be hilariously surreal for that to happen.

Instead, Gigabyte apparently believes its product will sell well because of what it gave it besides the expected X79 chipset and LGA 2011 socket.

For one thing, a 9-phase VRM handles the power that reaches the CPU socket, through PowIRstage driver-MOSFETs made by International Rectifier.

Secondly, Gigabyte included four SATA III 6 Gbps ports and four SATA 3 Gbps ports, for storage purposes. You won't run out of places for HDDs/HHDs and SSDs any time soon.

The company also included not one but two Gigabit LAN interfaces, plus 802.11ac WLAN, and Bluetooth 4.0.

That way, both wired and wireless connections are covered, to the Internet and other consumer electronics/gadgets alike.

Furthermore, the G1.Assassin 3 possesses four PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots and two PCI Express x1 slots.

Finally, for more memory than you will ever know what to do with, there are eight DDR3 DIMM memory slots, for a total maximum of 64 GB.

All these things, as well as Creative Sound Core3D audio (high SNR DAC, audiophile-grade OPAMP circuitry, user-replaceable Gigabyte AMP-Up amps), six USB3.0 ports and a bunch of USB 2.0/1.1 ports get power through 24-pin ATX and 8-pin EPS connectors.

Obviously, you'll need a really strong power supply to fuel this thing and all the hardware you're bound to get for it. You'll have to wait a bit though. Sales haven't started, and the price hasn't been settled on because Gigabyte hasn't finished perfecting the product. The heatsink designs for the VRM or PCH of the G1.Assassin 3 have yet to be finalized.
