New desktop and mini PCs aren't all that Gigabyte brought to Computex this year. It so happens that the company has also created a very odd and very specific piece of overclocking equipment.
What you see in the picture gallery is an auxiliary VRM (voltage regulation module) board for graphics cards, or a series of them anyway.
They can supplement your GPU power domains, so long as you're willing to manually solder them onto whatever VGA card you own.
The VRM boards have a high-current power stage (powered by five 8-pin PCI Express power connectors) and a fan-heatsink that actively cools it.
Considering that video cards seldom have more than two 8-pin ports, and even that's usually overkill, this means that the auxiliary VRM boards will significantly boost the OC headroom for your graphics card.
You'll probably need to use a liquid-nitrogen evaporator to possibly cool the cards enough to put a dent in the available power. It’s a good thing that Gigabyte has just launched the first such evaporator in its product collection.
I can already see the headlines: overclocking record broken on X AMD/NVIDIA video board. Well, that's assuming these VRM boards will even be accepted in competitions, which is unlikely, but not impossible.
