MIB T3140 captivates through design

Gigabyte, like all companies that make motherboards, has been mostly focused on providing Intel's and AMD's newest central processing units with as large a variety of platforms as possible. Even despite this, the hardware maker seems to have somehow squeezed out enough time to address a certain niche market, that of miniature PCs.

Last year, Gigabyte showed off a certain special ITX chassis design. While the casing itself was not all that special, it turned heads because it has a simple VESA monitor mount set on top of it. Of course, with the web more focused on CPU, video cards and memory, the media didn't exactly keep track of how the chassis performed on the market.

It seems that the performance was at least good enough to warrant an update. Of course, since there aren't exactly many mini-ITX boards out there, major changes were not necessary.

The case has only one 5.25-inch slimline bay, an internal 3.5-inch bay and a power supply of 65W. On the other hand, Gigabyte added some aesthetic value and refined the VESA mount itself.

The adjustable monitor stand features 7.5 x 7.5cm and 10x10cm VESA mounts and will not only allow users to save space, but will even let them adjust tilt angle, screen height and viewing angle. This is especially convenient, given that the low-end monitors most likely to be paired with this type of mini PC are unlikely to have such functionality of their own. Display sizes can be between 17 and 23 inches.

Gigabyte has already added the new model to its official website and the product page can be found here. As for pricing, the case costs a decent 69 Euro. Of course, end-users seeking an even lower price point can simply acquire the T5140 (the original), priced at only 49 Euro.
