14 DAY TRIAL // Gigabyte has officially launched earlier today its range of AM3+ motherboards for AMD's future FX-Series processors, which is comprised out of eight different models based on the 900-series controllers announced during the Computex 2011 fair.
The Taiwanese company advertises these as the “ultimate gaming platform,” and one of the most important features that they bring to the plate is the support for Nvidia SLI and AMD CrossFireX setups.
Paired together with a fast eight-core processor based on the Zambezi architecture, the Gigabyte boards should be fast enough to play even the most demanding games out there and this is exactly what Gigabyte is betting on.
As far as the AM3+ solutions that were announced today are concerned, these are split into three categories depending on the chipset they use.
Most of the boards released are powered by AMD's flagship motherboard controller, the 990FX, which is included in the 990FXA-UD7, 990FXA-UD5, 990FXA-UD3 and 990FXA-D3.
We already covered the first three motherboards in this series and found that all of these pack an impressive feature set, topping with the 990FXA-UD7 which includes no less than six PCI Express x16 slots with support for 4-way SLI and CrossFireX, eight SATA 6Gbps ports, as well as other overclocking oriented features.
Right bellow the 990FX solutions, we find two 990X motherboard models, the GA-990XA-D3 and 990XA-UD3, and finally we have the AMD 970-based boards.
These are the least advanced of the Gigabyte AM3+ solutions to be announced today and the line includes the 970A-UD3 and 970A-D3 models.
All the motherboards released by the Taiwanese company are listed on its website and some of these are already available for purchase in Europe with prices starting at 74.73 Euros for the 970A-D3.
