AMD has certainly raised the interest of those who attended this year's International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada as the Sunnyvale, California-based chip maker announced its latest Dragon platform, designed to combine the company's latest 45nm processors with its HD4000-series Radeon graphics card. The platform is enabled by the chip maker's 7-series chipsets, which have been featured on one of Gigabyte's latest mobos, the GA-MA790FXT-UD5P. The board is designed on the AMD 790FX and SB750 chipset combo and provides support for the latest AM3 Phenom II processors.

As you would expect from a mobo based on the Dragon platform, the new Gigabyte motherboard is ready to provide support for a multi-graphics setup, through the help of the two PCI-Express X16 graphics slots, with support for ATI CrossFireX technology. In addition, users will also be able to take advantage of 3 PCI-Express x1 and two PCI slots. Additionally, the board provides 6 SATA 3Gb/s connectors with support for RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and JBOD. Gigabyte has featured its new board with 2 JM322 chips, which provide 4 SATA 3GB/s connectors with support for RAID 0, 1 and JBOD.

With the help of the GA-MA790FXT-UD5P, users can equip their systems with a maximum of 16GB of DDR3 memory, offering an impressive performance potential, ready to tackle any of the latest PC gaming applications. The board is ready to provide 12 USB 2.0 ports, 8 of which are available at the backpanel.

Gigabyte's latest 790FX-based motherboard also comes with a number of unique technologies, such as Ultra Durable 3, Easy Energy Saver and EasyTune6, only available for the company's own mobos. These tools allow for a better system performance and provide enthusiasts with the necessary tools to up the ante on their high-end rigs.
