Loaded with Windows 7, they feature NVIDIA discrete graphics

There has been a visible shortage of new laptop releases recently, but Gigabyte decided to remedy this by launching two such items, each with their own Intel chips and NVIDIA graphics.

The two notebooks from Gigabyte go by the names of P2532F and P2532H and measure 15.6 inches in screen diagonal.

Essentially, they are stronger than average mobile computers, evident from how they don't settle for their CPUs' integrated graphics (2.2 GHz Core i7-2670QM).

While the Intel GMA HD is good enough for basic and casual PC use, it can't do much in games.

As such, the P2532F boasts an NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M discrete card, with 2 GB of graphics, while the P2532H has a GTX 550M, also with 2 GB.

The CPU graphics chip won't be idle all the time, though, as the Optimus technology, which automatically switches between it and the discrete one, is present and accounted for.

That said, the rest of the specifications are not outside the realms of expectations.

The 2 to 4 GB of DDR3 RAM (random access memory) are easy enough to guess, as is the hard disk drive (the capacity is 750 GB and the platter speed of 7,200 RPM).

Gigabyte apparently figured it should go all the way with storage and multimedia support, so it equipped the notebooks with Blu-ray combo drives too.

The list goes on with a 1.3 megapixel webcam, a pair of USB 3.0 ports, a 4-in-1 card reader, two USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0.

Finally, all the above, along with the LED-backlit display (native resolution is of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels), are kept operational by a 6-cell battery.

Unfortunately, Gigabyte chose not to mention the prices of the two new machines, or so reports say. Not too much time should pass before this final detail emerges though.
