Gigabyte has released a variety of products lately, but it seems it is just as mindful of the video card market, as proven by its release of the GV-R687SO-1GD, a factory overclocked version of AMD's mainstream DirectX 11 adapter.

Over the past few weeks, Gigabyte revealed the existence of several products, all of them for completely separate market segments.

Among other things, there was the GreenMax PSU series, the T1005P convertible netbook, the X58A-C motherboard and even the Pure Rock minimalistic portable hard drive.

This made it again clear that Gigabyte was a multilateral company, but it has definitely not turned a blind eye to the graphics segment either.

The company once again turned its gaze upon the video controller market and introduced the GV-R687SO-1GD.

Otherwise known as the Radeon HD 6870 SOC (Super Overclock), it obviously has better clock speeds than the reference model.

The other thing very obvious about it is the custom design with a cooler that uses three fans, so as to deal with the higher heat generation that overclocking naturally involves.

The cooler in question is the WindForce 3X and is the same one utilized on the OC Edition HD 6870.

For those interested in performance numbers, the GPU (graphics processing unit) runs at 950 MHz, this being 50 MHz above the stock 900 MHz.

Likewise, the I GB of GDDR5 memory works at 4,600 MHz instead of 'just' 4,200 MHz.

The memory interface of the product is the same 256-bit one as all other competing cards, while the number of stream processors is 960.

Finally, the company utilized the ultra Durable VGA Plus PCB (printed circuit board), for a more stable operation.

Unfortunately, the exact price is still unknown, but until this final mystery is resolved (the 210 Euro mark is most likely), end-users can see all available info by visiting the product page.
