Since AMD's new HD 6000 series has come out to battle the regular GeForce GTX 460 cards, Gigabyte decided to raise the stakes somewhat, so it created a boosted version of NVIDIA's mainstream Fermi board, one known as the GV-N460OC2-1GI.

While still based on the 40nm process, AMD's new Radeon HD 6870 and 6850 video cards were released as a means of preserving, if not improve, their continued prominence on the DirectX 11 market.

Nevertheless, the Santa Clara, California-based GPU maker and its many partners will, of course, not easily be brought down.

As such, Gigabyte put together a newer and more powerful GeForce GTX 460 video controller, one that uses the WindForce 2X dual-fan cooler.

One may or may not notice some resemblance to the GTX 480 Super Overclock, which was just recently showcased and equipped with the WindForce 3X.

This new board has the GF104 graphics processing unit operating at 760 MHz, while the shaders (336 CUDA cores) and the 1 GB of GDDR5 memory work at 1,520 MHz and 3,600 MHz, respectively.

The memory, of course, benefits from an interface of 256, but Gigabyte also decided to throw in some extra advantages.

Basically, the graphics adapter utilizes a 2oz copper PCB, Ferrite/Metal core chokes, Japanese solid state capacitors and Low RDS (on) mosfet.

All of these components are meant to add to the endurance of the adapter, which means that the factory overclocking will not lead to any stability issues.

Overheating is, also, not a risk thanks to the aforementioned custom cooler.

Those interested in getting a first-hand view of all available information on this newcomer need only stop by the official product page that its maker has already set up on its website.

Unfortunately, there is no information, so far, on how much this GTX 460 will cost.
