“Molly you in danger gurl,” Whoopi Goldberg told Demi Moore in the 1990 classic film “Ghost,” starring Patrick Swayze as a dead man who comes back as a ghost to save his lover from certain death. The story will get a new lease on life but, this time, on TV.

Variety reports that a pilot for a new series based on “Ghost,” whose official trailer you can see embedded above, is currently in the works, with writers Akiva Goldsman and Jeff Pinkner (“Fringe”) handling the script.

For the time being, no network has shown interest in the new series but that will hopefully change once the pilot is out, if it’s received warmly by target audiences. No other names are attached either.

“Ghost” didn’t just star three of the biggest names of the ‘90s but also proved to be such a hit that it won 2 Oscars and went on to gross a fortune, which made it the second highest grossing movie of that year.

Useless to say, if the new TV series isn’t done properly, fans of the original won’t be happy about it and that could spell the end for it.
