A surveillance video of a parking lot shows an unusual phenomenon – a ghost breaks the mirror on a police car outside a police station.

Lt. Brian Foley, spokesman for the Hartford Police Department, describes the officer finding the mirror on the ground, next to his car, after finishing his shift.

According to NBC Connecticut, officers watched the video and couldn't understand how a wisp of wind with a foggy appearance could break the rear view mirror, carry it, and place it next to the vehicle.

"Some of the officers said they think the parking lot's haunted," Lt. Foley says.

Meteorologist Brad Field reveals that the phenomenon has a more logical explanation – we are looking at a dust devil.

Dust devils resemble small tornadoes and they are formed on asphalt. They get their white color from dust and debris picked up on the way.
