Working with your computer for a film project is pretty common these days, and the Macs take the first row day by day. We have a plethora of applications suited for that purpose so the App Store Editors have created a new Selection of apps for the Director in you or for the actual Directors that need to hit the ground running.

The new Selection is divided in three different categories: "Video and Audio Editing", "Screenwriting" and "Animation". There are 29 apps that will get you started with this.

The first spot on the Video Editing Apps is taken by Apple's "Final Cut Pro". The App costs $299 (€222) and after a cavalcade of bad ratings it finally went up in charts. This is the premiere video editing app for your Mac. It brings Revolutionary Video Editing featuring the Magnetic Timeline, Powerful Media Organization, Compelling, Customizable Effects, Integrated Audio Editing, Intuitive Color Grading and One-Step Optimized Output.

Apple's software that was included in the same list is Motion, Compressor, Logic Pro X , iMovie and GarageBand.

When it comes to screenwriting, the editors have included another piece of Apple software - Pages, but that doesn't even do half the job some of the rest apps do.

"Final Draft 9" for example, is on sale for $199.99. That is 20 percent off of the regular price in the App Store. This app is the golden standard for writing a real movie. There is no need to learn about script formatting rules because Final Draft automatically formats your script to the industry standards as you write.

The top features of this app are highlighted in its description: Scene View, Navigator, Index Cards, ScriptNotes, Templates, Pagination, Watermarking, Panels System, Writing Management and Full Retina Support.

Scrivener is another app widely adopted by writers and editors around the world. The app is a full fledged content generation tool and it can help you structure long and difficult documents while giving you complete control on the formatting.

In the "Animation" category you will find seven apps that can help you get better with that field. The most appreciated one is iStopMotion 3. This was described as the award-winning standard of computer-aided stop motion animation (also known as claymation) and time lapse photography for your Mac. Similar apps Cinemagraph Pro, Animationist or Animation Desk.
