If you have a computer, then having an electronic calculator to help you solve certain mathematic problems shouldn't be one of your worries unless you need such a device in places where even your laptop can't go. No matter the operating system you're using, you'll always have a built in basic calculator application, but when it comes to advanced problems, they are almost useless. Obviously, now we'll talk about such a program for the Mac, and its name is iota-calc.

"Why iota-calc?" The answer is simple - because in the next 21 hours you'll be able to buy it for half its price. Of course I am talking about MacUpdate's today promo, and since some people may consider 9.99$ too much for such a program, even if the usual retail price is 19.95$, I think that best thing to do now is check this program's features, as usual.

iota-calc supports a rich expression format, identical in most cases to what you get to type in most programming languages; an unlimited number of variables is also supported, the built-in debugger lets you see the expressions simplified step by step, to speed up operation you can only use the keyboard, but if you're one of those mouse addicts, feel free to use your favorite input method!

This programmer's calculator has a friendly interface and its Mini-Calc Mode minimizes the occupied screen space without taking away a single bit of its usability. iota-calc includes numerous unit conversions for memory sizes, lengths, areas, volumes, temperatures and more.

iota-calc is able to work with Binary, Octal, Decimal, Hexadecimal, Boolean and Character data formats and perform automatic conversions between these types, while its operators and functions include trigonometric ones, logical, bitwise operators or comparators.

The last version of iota-calc, 1.7, is available as an Universal Binary for the Mac, but there's also a Windows version available. The Universal Binary needs Mac OS X 10.1 or later to run, so if this is no problem for you, go ahead! Tic, tac...
