Formlabs is a company that’s trying to bring the 3D print concept in your own house. There are some public 3D print shops available already, but the company is trying to get the printer in your own office and it’s not bigger than your ordinary PC.

The Formlabs design doesn’t use the usual plastic heat extruder method, but it’s considerably more innovative and quite a bit more precise.

The idea behind the Form 1 printer is the same one that you dentist uses.

The material used is similar to or the same as the one used in dental filings and this substance hardens when exposed to a ray of light emitted at a certain frequency.

Form 1 is has a 25 micron precision and the object itself is “printed” downwards rather than upwards because of the specific method used.

There are two versions available, but the $2500 one has already sold out and the $2700 model won’t stay too much either.
