14 DAY TRIAL // This is a Hero Defense map constructed using the Sunken Ruins tileset with a medium size, an AoS map with triggered hero abilities focusing primarily on controlling areas to gain special advantages.
This map is actually a sequel to an earlier version developed by Ultramagnetic and SageTheMage. It underwent a number of major changes throughout its history, including the addition of control nodes and eventually mercenary spawns with their own lanes.
TBC: Oculus Wars is very complex, featuring 16 heroes, over 60 trigger-based spells and six trigger items. There is also a shop from where you can recruit mercenaries. Mercenary lanes add an extra element of strategy as they provide players an alternate route to opponent bases.
You are about to enter a land of great strife. Two waring factions both vie to control a mystic artifact that bestows power to its owner, known as “The Oculus.” There are two sides: one Good and one Evil.
Buildings are scattered throughout the land. Capturing (destroying an enemy one) will give your side special abilities. - The Oculus: Your side will be able to spawn super units (Minotaurs and Voidwalkers) that deal chaos damage. It's located in the central part of the map. Stays invulnerable for 3 minutes after capturing. - Obelisks of Control: Capture both of these, and you get control of the Oculus. There's one on the top and bottom paths of the map. Wonder why these are useful? Well, they allow you to take control of the Oculus, even while it's invulnerable. These also provide attack and armor bonuses.
Killing opponent heroes is very good for your team and will help you win the game faster. Every time five enemy heroes are killed, the units on your side will receive additional damage, armor and hit points. In order to win the game, you have to destroy the enemy's base (Dark Base for the Koz'ak'Dramul and the Altar of Enchantment for the Defenders of the Light).
