In case you're a YouTube fan, this is probably the best you can get from a web-based technology able to work with Google's video sharing platform. YouTube Desktop is an interesting solution which is able to replace the main page of YouTube, offering all you need just like a downloadable solution for your computer. Basically, YouTube Desktop is a skin for the video platform which comes with drag and drop support, large thumbnails, menus and other elements that improve the functionality of the service. Don't worry, you're not required to install anything as you can access the product through a single instance of your browser.

Now, the bad thing about it. YouTube Desktop is only a private beta for now so, if you want to test it, you can do this using an invitation sent by a registered member. Please keep in mind that you must install Flash Player 9.0.45.0 or higher in order to use all the functions of the application as well as IE 7, Firefox, Opera and Safari as browser.

"What makes YouTubeDesktop unique? Designing YouTubeDesktop we followed one primary idea - to bring normal desktop application experience to the browser - windows that can be dragged, resized, minimized in a tray, drag'n'drop of videos between players and results, standard menus - all with one goal - to make the richest web application for viewing and managing video content!," it is mentioned in the description of the service according to The Red Ferret Journal. "You will be amazed by the flexibility and fabulous design of the website. It is user friendly and easy to navigate but also has great functionality."

I decided to keep the best part of this service for the end of the article so here it is: you're able to download the videos in AVI, FLV, EXE or zipped EXE format straight from the interface of the product without installing any other solution on your computer.
