Isn't that cute? But it's wrong!

Here's a great offer for you! Click on a link and not only get a free Kitty Card from Psycho Cat, but you also get a nice virus infection! How about that? I haven't written anything about Storm in quite a while - it was about time it popped up again! You know, Storm, it's old, but always new. Storm is one of the most spread threats we've had this year, infecting gullible users that click on links in dubious websites or e-mails.

Their most recent scheme involves pictures of cats. I don't know if you've noticed, but kittens are really popular on the web - just Google search for cat pictures and you'll find a lot of them, some funny, some cute. Also, everybody loves to laugh, and you just can't stop laughing when you see a cat in a weird pose or with a funny face.

If earlier the guys behind Storm were only targeting a well defined audience, now they are widening the virus offer. For example, with one of their schemes they only went after Football lovers in the United States, so anyone else getting a message would just ignore it. But now, it doesn't matter if the target is a man or woman, young or old, from the US or from Mexico, or whatever, because most people like kittens.

As F-Secure informs, on one of their websites the Storm gang offers a lot of funny or cute cards with cats, dogs, bears and other animals for download. Whatever button you may click, you'll get infected with Email-Worm.Win32.Zhelatin.KI aka Storm.

To be honest, this scheme is very smart and, in my opinion, it's going to have a lot of success, even with warnings issued. However, the more tech-savvy are always wary when surfing on greeting cards sites, as they have been used by virus creators many times! My advice to you is to have proper security software in place, because you never know where a virus might pop out!
