Some of the most hardcore RPG fans probably remember Nival's great game, Night Watch, while others still have fond memories of Oleg Divov's fictional novel, or Timur Bekmambetov's masterpieces. No matter the source of the information about Night Watcher, one thing is clear: we're talking here about a beautifully crafted universe which can and should be explored by as many game companies as possible.

It appears that Akella has a similar opinion, since the company has announced that it's working on a game based on the novel, bearing the temporary name of Night Watcher. Unlike Nival's title, this new release will be a third person adventure game, filled with quests, horror and twists in the story. From what it seems, it will be a must have title.

The story begins with journalist's Andrei Luzgin arrival in a town named Posolsk, searching for his lost friend. He soon starts to realize that people disappear without any trace and dead bodies with terrible injuries keep popping up everywhere. He will start an investigation and you'll soon learn more about the city and the experiments conducted there.

However, Luzgin will disappear too, just before a lieutenant, Vladimir Dolinsky, arrives in the city, with two missions: a secret one, to investigate the incidents and a personal one, to find a vaccine for his infected wife. Dolinsky, who worked with Luzgin, will soon start to find out incredible, horrible things that will certainly change his life forever. If you are curious to know what this is all about, get the game as soon as it hits the stands.

Night Watcher promises to capture the atmosphere of a small Russian town, together with its suburbs, while bringing to life 3D-characters, realistic animations, and classic horror quests such as Gabriel Knight. We'll be able to control two characters during our gaming experience, meet just 25 NPCs and, all in all, enjoy no less than 15 hours of gameplay. Could there be more? Hopefully, not.
