There are plenty of people, companies and organizations trying to latch on to the "holiday spirit" for their own gain, but, fortunately, there are some that really do want to do some "good" this time of the year and Google is more than glad to help them.

"We’ve been thrilled to see the ways nonprofit organizations use Google+ to raise awareness about their work, as well as the ways people connect with causes on Google+," Google wrote.

"In the past couple days, several entertainers have helped start a movement for this holiday season, drawing attention to their favorite charities on Google+ using the phrase #CauseILoveEm and creatively showing their followers what they love about these nonprofit organizations," it explained.

Plenty of charities and celebrities have gotten on board and they're focusing on a wide enough range of issues that you'll find something that's of particular interest to you.

There's a very simple way of finding out more, just search for the hashtag #CauseILoveEm and you'll find posts from regular people getting involved, but also from charities spreading their message and their campaigns.

Google lists some of the people that have been a part of the meta-campaing the get go, Usher, Linkin Park, Dolly Parton, Hugh Jackman and the organizations they support are part of the large scale campaign.

Of course, the great thing about hashtags is that they're not someone's to own, you can attach your own campaign for your own charity or organization and get some attention by using it.

This campaign by Google also serves to illustrate the unique role Google+ is making for itself. The more open nature of the social network, despite the stricter privacy controls, is more akin to Twitter, making it a good platform for spreading a message. On the other hand, the far more advanced tools compared to Twitter make Google+ a more appealing tool for companies and organizations.
