Attacking is the best defense

United States - You attack them and they will respond to it! And it's been all over the news lately. The Pentagon has acknowledged that they have been hit by hackers and that a part of there system had some downtime. The Chinese have been blamed for this in the papers, but there has been no actual official declaration regarding this. I don't know how they acted about this, but I'm pretty sure that they didn't just let it go.

In any case, Bryan Whitman, spokesman for the Department of Defense has stated (for various media reports) the following: "Cyber or non-kinetic type threats to military computer networks are viewed as just as real and just as significant as physical or kinetic threats. The department aggressively responds to deter all intrusions to defend what is known as the GIG, the global information grid."

Also, it's not a secret that the Pentagon is attacked daily by various hackers for different reasons. I don't know what the DoD is doing about this, but I sure do know what the word "aggressive" means. So if you want your machine to get hacked by some of the best hackers in the world, just go and launch an a cyber-attack against the US Department of Defense! There are some rumors that some countries like the US for example, instead of jailing the best hackers, they give them the alternative to work for that country's defense!

They will not reveal their ways, but as their spokesman also stated all the attacks are repelled and besides the one in June, there have been no other ones. They say that only some unclassified files have been breached so it's no biggie, but I wonder, if the situation was really not that severe, how come it took them weeks to get the systems back online?
