It was about time something bizarre came out to flummox everyone

Gesture control is a technology that very rarely crops up in things without a screen, like laptops, tablets and smartphones, but that didn't stop Inova from making the Microlight STS.

As odd as it sounds, the Microlight STS is a keychain light with gesture control.

It has a touch-sensitive area just below the LED bulb, which allows it to be turned on and cycle through various modes.

All it takes to switch from one setting to the next is to swipe the finger from right to left, or vice versa.

All things considered, it isn't the most sophisticated gesture tracking system, not nearly on par with laptop trackpads or touch displays, but it's not like the keychain light has a wide enough surface for more than that anyway.

The LED has an intensity of 16 lumens, though the battery will be happier if owners choose the 2-lumen mode instead. Otherwise, it will drain in 9 hours instead of 63.

A strobe mode is available too, and the intensity can even be dialed to anywhere between 2 and 16.
