Star talks rejection, film and doing promotion

Just the other day, Gerard Butler was on Ellen DeGeneres, promoting his latest two projects: the Disney animated 3D film “How to Train Your Dragon” and the romantic comedy “The Bounty Hunter.” Even more recently, the Scottish actor went on Jimmy Kimmel to do the same, only with more hilarious moments and even an insight into his life as a teen.

Though he rarely – if ever – talks about his personal life, Gerry is used to joke about it whenever he can. On Jimmy Kimmel, the actor really “opened up,” calling out the names of all the women who ever broke his heart and even going into the specifics of one particular romance that almost was. On the bright side, the star has to thank that woman for showing him that he did not know how to flirt, something that he has now taken to the level of art.

Of the girl in question, Gerard says, “She flirted outrageously with me... always pretending that we were boyfriend/girlfriend, until I made my huge attraction to her clear – at which point she said, ‘I’m not the slightest bit interested,’ and it killed me.” It was then that he realized he had no idea of what this whole flirting thing was. In time, though, he’d get to perfect his technique – and has been doing so ever since, he said while laughing his contagious laugh.

“This girl, Julie Morrison..., was the one you’d end up round the back of the bike sheds with... I’ll never forget her walking up the stairs... and I said something to her and then I gave her a long, lingering look... and she looked at me and gave me these come-to-bed eyes,” the actor went on to say. The other girls whom he name-checks as responsible for breaking his teen heart are Carol-Ann Nicole Clinton, Caroline McLaughlin and Tracy Turner, though, obviously, chances of these actually being real names are rather slim.

In the same interview, Butler also talks about the heavy promotion he’s been doing for the two films mentioned above, and answers Kimmel’s (hilarious) question of whether doing voice-over for a 3D film is more difficult that doing it for a traditional 2D one. Below are Part 1 and Part 2 of the entire interview. Enjoy.
