14 DAY TRIAL // He's always denied being a womanizer, but it would seem that there's nothing he can do to convince the tabloids. A recent report claims that, before rehab earlier this year, Gerard Butler ruined some aspiring model's marriage.
Considered one of the most charming and fickle man in showbiz right now, Gerard is believed to have broken the woman's heart and, in the process, destroyed her marriage.
An unnamed – but admittedly reliable – source tells Radar Online that the affair lasted for a few months, and that Gerry and the woman and her husband were actually good friends before it started.
Ironically, the woman (whose identity is not revealed) had just gotten married when she started sleeping with Gerard, for whom she fell head over heels.
“It was a very intense relationship. She had very strong feelings for Gerard, despite the fact that she was a newlywed at the time,” says the spy.
“They would exchange heated text messages, emails and phone calls. She would drop anything to be with Gerard. The two would hook-up at his hotel when he was in Los Angeles,” adds the spy.
As these things go, the husband eventually found out and, enraged by the betrayal, asked for a divorce.
After trying – and failing – to convince him to give her a second chance, the woman reportedly started stalking the actor, which is when he chose to end all contact with her.
“She thought Gerard wanted to be in a relationship with her but then she found out he was involved with other girls, and hadn’t been exactly honest with her about what was going on in his life,” the insider explains.
“[She] began calling Gerard incessantly and he changed his cell phone number. She hasn’t been in touch with him since he decided to go to rehab. Gerard has obviously moved on but she is now going through a divorce and trying to support her son (from a previous relationship),” another source says for the aforementioned publication.
Radar Online also tried to contact Gerard for a comment on this but, as expected, his rep was not immediately available.
