Remember that time when Gerard Butler almost died while shooting a scene for a surfer movie? The first trailer for it, a passion project of Butler's called “Chasing Mavericks,” has finally arrived online.

Check it out below in full.

The film tells the story of real-life surfer Jay Moriarity whose love for the sport of surfing pressed him on to take on the biggest challenge of his life: ride the dangerous waves at Mavericks in Northern California.

He is played by Jonny Weston in the film, while Butler plays the legendary Frosty Hesson, who (at first reluctantly) helps him train for the challenge in a record time of several weeks.

Elisabeth Shue, Abigail Spencer and Leven Rambin also star, with Curtis Hanson on the director's chair.

“Chasing Mavericks” is scheduled for theatrical release on October 26.
