Zack Snyder's “300” was nothing short of a milestone in cinematography, so it's not really that much of a surprise that Hollywood bosses are dying to make a sequel. One is happening as we speak – but don't expect to see Gerard Butler in it.

Of course, Butler's character dies at the end of “300” but “Battle of Artemisia” isn't a sequel. It's a prequel, so this means he could have reprised his role if he wanted to.

He doesn't, though.

“Oh yeah, I’m not doing it. They’re filming it right now. I wish them the best, but it didn’t [work out]. It wasn’t really my thing,” Butler revealed in a recent interview.

“300: Battle of Artemisia” will star Eva Green, Rodrigo Santoro and Sullivan Stapleton, with Noam Murro in the director's chair.

It tells the story of Xerxes before the events in “300” and his journey to becoming a god.
