A bee spill plagued a highway on Georgia on Sunday. You didn't read that wrong, a tractor trailer carrying nothing but bees spilled over on Interstate 75 near Atlanta.

Macon writes that the incident took place near the Georgia 18 bridge in Forsyth. The incident was prompted by the truck blowing one of its tires.

llison Selman-Willis, public information officer for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, details that it was transporting bee hives.

Millions of bees were aboard, and so were hundreds of honey combs. Two lanes of the I-75 were covered in honey as the boxes containing the hives broke.

Monroe County Emergency Agency Director Matthew Perry added that the honey combs had to be moved to the grass area near the highway. The operation left two lanes of traffic closed for the day.

“That was a sticky mess,” Perry describes.
