So long, Hollywood, hello, White House, as the actor is moving up in the world

This isn't the first time that George Clooney, one of Hollywood's A-listers, sparks rumors about a possible transition from the big screen to politics. He is known to be heavily involved in charity as well as being a political supporter who is not afraid to show his favorites and speak for them.

This time, an insider quoted by the Mirror is claiming that George Clooney has already made up his mind as to what exactly he wants to be when he becomes a politician – Governor of California.

The wheels are said to have been already put in motion, but he is only going to start actively pursuing his new career once his marriage to Amal Alamuddin, the human rights lawyer, is going to be complete. As you may or may not know, the wedding is set to take place this September, according to reports.

The insider is quoted as saying that “George is hugely popular with the Democrats and where better a place to put him than as the Governor of California the home of Hollywood.” It's known that Clooney is a big fan of President Barack Obama and that he nearly came to fight with one of his detractors in what was later described as a “drunken dispute.”

Many specialists think that California is the perfect place for Clooney to get started since it's always been a “huge stronghold for the party and one that has a proven record for getting politicians in to the Oval office.” This means that Clooney has plans to go all the way.

Certainly, he is not the first actor to dabble with politics. Another Hollywood heavyweight in more ways than one, Arnold Schwarzenegger, landed the Governorship of California some time ago and actually managed to pull it off. Unfortunately for him, since he's not a US-born citizen, he really couldn't have gone further.

But this is not an impediment for George Clooney, who has his sights firmly set on the Oval Office and becoming the President of the United States. He doesn't have that problem since he was born in the United States.

His good looks, his charm and his charity work could actually mean that he has a shot to win this thing, especially if he has the backing of the Democratic Party. His final ace up his sleeve is actually Amal Alamuddin, his fiancée.

Apparently, by shacking up with the British lawyer, he's gained enough credibility to land him a presidency. As opposed to the previous women he's dated, Amal has the pedigree and the prestige to stand by his side, which makes her perfect for a First Lady.

Insiders added that if this ever goes as planned, “It would certainly add a new meaning to the ‘special relationship’ between Britain and America.”
