Almost a couple of weeks ago, word got out that Stacy Keibler and George Clooney had broken up after 2 years together. A new report suggests that, even before they were officially over, George was already looking for a rebound girlfriend.

He had settled on Eva Longoria, an insider says for Us Weekly.

George and Eva have known each other since forever and they also happen to be good friends but, admittedly, he thought they could take the relationship to the next level.

He also thought he could do that before he dumped Stacy, which reportedly happened over the phone because he wanted to avoid the drama of telling her in person to pack up and move out.

“Friendly for years, Clooney and Longoria hung out at Soho House in Berlin – both were in Germany for work – this past March, ‘but did not hook up,’ according to the insider,” the publication writes.

It wasn’t for lack of trying on his part, though.

“[After that] George began pursuing Eva. He told her that he was still with Stacy, but had plans to break up with her and was interested in being with Eva,” says an insider.

Eva obstinately turned down his advances, but George was determined to make it happen.

“[He] continued to pursue her with texts and calls. Eva made it clear to him that she would not date or be with him until he was completely single,” the insider says.

Until that happened, Eva started dating Ernesto Arguello, one of the bachelors she signed for her now-defunct reality series Ready for Love.

In the end, it all worked out fine, except for George, who is still single.

“She is now very happy with [Ernesto]. George and Eva never hooked up,” the spy stresses for the aforementioned publication.

In post-breakup interviews, Stacy has said that the split was amicable and that, contrary to reports online, she never even considered marriage, so the breakup had nothing to do with that.
