It's been quiet for a while for George Clooney and his new fiancée, human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin, but now they're coming back into the spotlight due to some rumors about their upcoming marriage ceremony, which is said to be taking place this September.

The National Enquirer claims that George is not only having second thoughts about the marriage, but he's also getting cold feet and that his friends are genuinely concerned that he'll turn into a runaway groom.

The speculation among friends is that, by the time the wedding ceremony is scheduled to take place, George isn't even going to make it down the aisle, he's that nervous. One insider is quoted as saying, “He’s gone into meltdown mode, questioning if he’s doing the right thing or not.”

There is no question as to his feelings for Amal, as he's definitely deeply in love with her, but, as you might have noticed, the actor, who has previously vowed to remain a bachelor forever, has some serious commitment issues.

The insider explains what is currently going through Clooney's mind: “He doesn’t think he’s husband material. So his old patterns are kicking in, and he’s convinced he’s ruining Amal’s life. George is a true gentleman and he hates all the attention she’s gotten since they announced their engagement. He’s convinced she has no idea what she’s getting into and he’s making a big mistake.”

If this turns out to be true, it's going to be quite a shame, especially since they both seem to be very suited for each other. Right after the engagement was confirmed, the first speculations began to pop up that Amal was going to help Clooney's political aspirations thanks to her connections, her reputation, and her career.

Though George has always been labeled a womanizer, his previous partners were never women of caliber and not a single one could go toe-to-toe with Amal, who is a world-famous lawyer, with a brilliant career despite her young age and with a lot of pedigree in her family.

So it's very possible that this entire story from the Enquirer is made up, since Clooney looks pretty determined to change his marital status, in an effort to become more serious and have a shot at winning the presidential race, or at least a governorship.

At the moment, the happy couple is spending some time at Clooney's Lake Como villa, away from the eyes of the press, getting ready for the upcoming nuptials which are still uncertain as far as the location goes.
