Since Florence was taken, the actor opts for a more romantic destination

Quick pop quiz question: which is the most romantic city on Earth, and the place where most people want to get married? If you answered Paris, you might be right, but “the city of lights” is favored by mostly women, men would rather go for another location, like Venice, which is exactly what George Clooney has in mind for his impending nuptials to Amal Alamuddin.

Page Six is claiming that the actor has his eyes deeply set on the Italian town by the sea, famed for its canals and gondolas and Amal has no objections to the location. Previously, it was rumored that the couple was going to say their “I dos” at Clooney's Italian villa on Lake Como, but now it looks they want something a little flashier.

George's main concern was that his lake-side villa wasn't able to offer the privacy they wanted and he was also afraid that the increased attention of the press might prove an inconvenience with locals and neighbors. It turns out that Clooney is very considerate of the needs of others around him.

The source that spilled the beans on the location claims the couple have already chosen a palace in the old town of Venice where they want to hold the ceremony, sometime in September. Late last month, the couple took a trip to Venice, during which it's very possible they were scouting for possible locations for their marriage.

“George and Amal want to be married in Italy, but they need a location that offers them and their guests privacy,” said an insider. Since Venice is one of the most popular locations for tourists in Europe, we think that they might have chosen wrong, but maybe they know something we don't.

The date for the wedding has been chosen in such a way that it's going to take place exactly one year after the couple met for the first time, or, at least, that's what the actor had in mind. Last month's visit with Amal, though enjoyable, wasn't the first time that Clooney saw Venice and it's likely not the time he fell in love with the city either.

George spent a significant amount of time in the city back in 2013, when he opened the 2013 Venice Film Festival with Sandra Bullock and their Oscar-winning movie “Gravity.” At the time, the actor was spotted sailing on the canals at the helm of a water-taxi. This must be the time he really decided that the city was beautiful enough to get married in.
